Recording laws in your state
- Video of what anyone can see in a public place (like a police station lot) is generally allowed.
- Recording sound of a private conversation has stricter rules in some states.
- Never record inside someone's home, a bathroom or anywhere private without permission.
- Never use recording to provoke, harass or follow anyone. Stay calm, stay short, stay on record.
General information, not legal advice. Laws change and have exceptions. Ask a family law attorney in your state.
What the seal means
Each clip gets a digital fingerprint (SHA-256) the moment it's saved, chained to the clip before it. If even one frame is changed, the fingerprint won't match. Tap Check seal any time to prove the clip hasn't been changed since it was saved. It's strong supporting proof, but a judge decides what evidence is allowed. Your lawyer can explain how to present it.
